Return of a Wacky Classic
For those of you that don't know (or at least don't have the Boomerang channel), Wacky Races is a classic Hanna-Barbera series where a bunch of original characters race to the finish in their souped-up vehicles and win the prize in all sorts of amazing locations. It's also the series where the fiendish Dick Dastardly and the fair Penelope Pitstop got their first big break before they each got their own show.

"Crash and Dash" has seemed to capture the amazing feel of this series by putting you in the driver's seat of the Wacky Racers like Peter Perfect, the Slag Brothers, Professor Pat Pending, and the Ant Hill Mob. Even the race courses are also freely based on the show, too ! (i.e. "Oil's Well That Ends Well", "Why Oh Why Wyoming", and "Beat the Clock to Yellow Rock")

In this game, you'll crash, dash, and soar past the competition with special Wacky Widgets that will give you amazing Wacky Powers to use to your advantage. There are three different Wacky Powers for each racer plus a special Way-Out Wacky Power that will be even more useful in the race if you know how to use the DS stylus. Besides the Widgets scattered all over each track, keep an eye out for special pickups of character bios and their vehicles usually when you wreck an opponents car. Also, be sure you'll be able to earn a few Mad Dash Cogs during the race. You'll need 'em for the final stretch of the race.

Oops, I almost forgot. Look out for the sinister Dick Dastardly and his sniveling cur Muttley driving past you in their Mean Machine. They'll attempt to sabotage your position in first with a trap or two. Be prepared for those traps because you're gonna need skill to get past them.

All in all, this is one racing game that is real easy to enjoy whether you're a fan of the original cartoon or not. Trust me, it's a real blast - until you get blasted yourself.

This version of NCAA is leaps and bounds better then previous versions due to the addition of online dynasties. Yes, they have also upgraded the graphics, added the cheerleaders and put nice little touches in like tight rope runs down the sidelines and kickoff teams stretching and prepping.

But the big news here is the online dynasties *you can still do offline dynasties too and even convert an online dynasty into an offline one. You choose a team and build that team through recruiting and winning games. You make promises to incoming recruits and redshirt players and you make sure you are under the 70 player limit. This was only available offline before. Taking dynasties online has propelled this game to a new level. You are now playing someone, season after season and chasing not only the National Championship but Conference Championships and Rivalry wins.

I have the new Madden too and while Madden has online leagues they are nothing like online dynasties. In Madden you choose a team, and if you want, do a draft for your entire team. Then in Madden you play whatever other player you want to in your league. Not so in NCAA 09. You start with the current players your team has in real life and while you can drop and add non conference games you are locked into your team's conference schedule. Of the 2, I currently play NCAA 90% of the time.

Cons
-Not all team mascots are in the game
-Team rankings for some teams are arguably wrong.
-Sometimes defensive players just stand there and don't go after the
ball carrier.
-There is a weird new "bobble" run that I am not sure if its a bug or not
but sometimes your ball carrier runs like he has a wedgie
-99 speed receivers can't outrun 91 speed CBs and safeties
-You can sim games that are blowouts so you don't sit there through a boring game. However when you sim you are much more likely to have injuries that can have serious effects on your team.
-AI games are pretty much wins. Being beat by the CPU is a rarety

There are some bugs that were supposed to be addressed in a second and final patch that was released on August 29. Unfortunately it did not address some of the more serious problems and even created a new one. A major bug in the online dynasty is that in the offseason your best couple of undergraduate players will want to go to the NFL draft or even transfer to another school if they are reserves and have a good rating because they want to start. You can talk them out of it. Well there is a bug that even though you talk them out of leaving, when you complete the offseason they leave anyway. Well this can be devastating to your team when your key players leave. Patch 2 was supposed to fix it and it didn't. Since Patch 2 there is a new bug. In shotgun plays TEs and CBs will line up in slot positions. Hopefully EA Sports will release another patch soon to fix these bugs.

Huge upgrade
This is a significant upgrade for the PS3 from NCAA 08, so if you are debating whether to buy the new version my answer is "Most definitely, buy this version". The player control is smoother, greater attention to detail with the stadiums, crowds, etc, and the mascot challenge is an enjoyable break from the action. From the moment I broke it out of the plastic I haven't been able to put it down. Once you have configured the game for your team, there are even unique pictures for that particular team that you will recognize if you went to that particular school.

One minor glitch I have noticed is that occasionally when reviewing your play call on the field, the receiver routes will get all wavy (best way I know how to describe it) and the receiver designation will appear as a question mark, rather than circle or square. I'm thinking this is a memory writing issue with the game as it goes away with the next play called.

In Resistance: Fall of Man, US and British forces band together in a last-ditch effort to save England from a horric scourge -- the Chimera. The Chimera wars
War is everywhere and everything in Resistance. An alien race began toying with the planet just after Word War I and in mere decades, the Chimera Ð a species of unknown origin propagating a virus that converts other life forms into more Chimera Ð has overrun Russia and all of Europe. HumanityÕs hope for survival is slim, and the tide of the battle rests on the shoulders of U.S. Army Ranger, Sgt. Nathan Hale.

The Chimera didn't plan to take this protracted war lying down, however, and amassed their forces in Russia. Once Russia was captured, they quickly erected a wall around the former country, rebuking all efforts at communication or contact. While the world waited and wondered what other terrors might spill from the wall, England prepares for and falls to a major Chimera invasion in 1951.

The United States comes to aid their English allies, but all does not go as planned. The next three days will see some of the most intense fighting the war has known thus far, and it's up to you to end the Chimera threat before the plague of defeat can encircle the globe.

Next-generation gameplay and style
The gameplay of Resistance is classic First Person Shooter. Insomniac Games has combined its passion for creating exotic weapons and vehicles with a proprietary physics system to create unique human and alien weaponry. Many of the weapons of the game are era-appropriate, such as pistols and grenades. Other weapons, such as the Chimeran Auger, are of alien design. Due to the differences in the ways that the various weapons handle, great care must be taken when entering an area infested with Chimera with their own weaponry. In addition to the obvious array of weapons, players can use melee attacks and jump to avoid attack.

Special game actions, called "Skill Tasks," are worth set number of points that can be spent to unlock new content in the game. A Skill Task may be something as simple as killing a number of enemies in a short period of time or as involved as locating a hidden area in the single player campaign. The mystery of the tasks, however, is that they aren't actually revealed until you have completed the task. This makes for a great reply incentive, as you will be mowing down Chimera and be suddenly rewarded with task points, often when you least expect the reward.

Obviously, presentation is one of the areas in which Resistance shines. The frame rate is silky-smooth, and never seems to get bogged down when there is a large number of Chimera or teammates on screen. Animations are believable, the locations are detailed, and the voice acting is top-notch. Explosions are especially impressive, sending shrapnel and smoke in all directions. If you're looking for a game to impress your friends with graphically, look no further. Resistance is the type of game that makes you feel confident about the future of the PLAYSTATION 3.

Resistance also boasts an impressive 40 player online multiplayer mode. It's not uncommon to find large-scale battles with both intricate strategy and simple "run and gun" play styles. Created and managed jointly by Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment, MyResistance.net is the official online community destination for Resistance: Fall of Man. At MyResistance.net, players can view their multiplayer stats in near-real time, participate in forums with other fans, download unlockable content and more.
