 "faulty product" 2009-02-21
By wif (Venice, CA)
We used it only a couple of times before the DVD drive began making noises. About 9 months later, after light use (estimated 20 hours) the DVD stopped spinning entirely. Toshiba says to send it in for repair (at customer cost) and as there is no receipt (item was a gift) customer must pay labor charges.

 "Buy something cheaper " 2009-01-29

Bought this dvd player for airplane use. Started freezing up and skipping while playing dvd's within the first year of use. Have to keep turning it on and off to get it to work and sometimes it won't continue to play the dvd. For the money, you definitely should buy an extended service plan or a cheaper dvd player. The player is good when it works, but unless you can afford to keep replacing it, it's not worth the money.

 "Very reliable, long life" 2009-01-20

This was definetly one of the best DVD players for the size and price. I'm currently deployed to Iraq, and have had this DVD player for the last 10 months. The conditions are dusty and sometimes extremely hot. Not a problem for this DVD player. Never had 1 Issue with it. Great picture, long battery life(about 5 1/2 hours) and easy to use. Definetly recommend to anybody wanting a portable DVD player.

 "Don't Waste Your Money" 2008-12-14

We purchased this DVD player in September 2007 with the purpose of using it to keep our daughter entertained on long car rides. From the start, we had problems with it reading the DVDs. This past September, just a few days over the one-year warranty end date, we called customer service to complain about the poor quality. Once again, we were on a trip and it wasn't working. Customer Service was of no help-we were told that we could send it in to be looked at for $100. That was the cost to send it in-to repair it would be an additional cost. This weekend, we again traveled and this time the DVD player wouldn't even attempt to read the DVD. This was a complete waste of money.

 "Poor quality" 2008-12-09

What a waste of money. This player never worked properly. Battery never did charge and Toshiba told me to send it back to them. I didn't because for my purposes I could plug it in. Then, although it was only used a couple of times, it stopped reading DVDs. It kept telling me to insert a disk when I already had one in. I expected more from Toshiba. I'm thoroughly disappointed.

Great little player, Only unit to play all disc type.

My only wish is for Coby to make a 10" player with all these features

Pros :

1. Awesome audio quality

2. Good picture quality

3. USB support

4. Battery life

5. Impressed with In box accessories

Cons:

1. The controls feel very tight. Should have had better feel

2. Screen size is very small. Okay for th eprice though

3. The screen locks up with base. Not very userfriedndly as it protrudes out when not locked

I like the DVD player, unfortunately, the fast forward button does not work. Besides that I'm still enjoying it.

 "Good Buy!" 2009-08-24

I think this product is most affordable player which plays DIVX.

You can't find any other brand w/ these spec (available USB & SD card slots) for this price.

Hooked up to the headrest on my car w/ included mounting acessory.

Copied my kid's favorite cartoons onto SD card and playing all the time while driving. (battery lasts longer this way than spinning DVD)

Even if the battery goes out, just plug in included car charger.

I'm just hoping it will lasts longer than what others are saying on some of the reviews.

Couple negatives I can think of are the maximum capacity of USB is small and when there are no DVD inside, it would not pick-up the files from neither USB nor SD card. Overall, I think it is a good buy!

So far this has turned out to be a great little unit. It plays xvid/divx files perfectly; better than my standalone divx player. The picture is very bright and sharp. The volume levels are fantastic as well; at full volume it is too loud for a sedan. The battery life is not as long as advertised in the owners manual however the car adapter that comes with the unit works when the battery has run down. We bought this little unit to help entertain our 16-month child for an 12 hour drive and it did the job with flying colors. The unit is encased with plastic parts but it doesn't feel as flimsy as I had expected, though I am careful when spinning the screen 180°. I expected remote problems based on other reviews but mine has worked fine from various distances (10+ feet). This product is worth it's every cent in my opinion, especially when compared to the more expensive larger inch models. I've played standard DVD as well as xvids on DVD and USB. I've connected the unit to a 50" plasma. It has done everything I've needed very well. Fantastic player.
