For years I had a 7" player that finally bit the dust and the screen on this Memorex model seems mammoth in comparison! The on-unit controls could be a bit more intuitive, but the remote is a standard layout. The sound is like any other small player that I've viewed, adequate, but not it's best feature. Overall an ideal unit for viewing DVDs within 18-24 inches. I haven't yet run it off of the battery, so I can't rate that feature.

We had this DVD player for about 3 months before it quit working. Memorex failed to fulfill the warranty and we are now out $180.

Decent pic and sound quality...



Initially, my only complaint was that there is no way to rewind or fast forward without using the remote.



But then, after about 6 months, it kept randomly claiming that the DVD door was open even when it wasn't. Really annoying when you're in the middle of watching a DVD.

great picture - love the battery life! First purchase of this kind and am pretty happy with it.



negatives: If you pick up the machine during play it often pops the top open - needing you to start the whole process again.



Can be loud when powering up. Sometimes the audio does not match the mouths of the actors speaking. (like a bad lip sync)



remote has to be right up to machine to be effective.

I bought this Player, though not through this site and seemed like a really nice outfit. Good picture. Audio could be a little more powerful. I used this player 1 week and it quit! Went to turn on the power and it showed that it was powered up, but nothing! Screen didn't light up, nothing! Just like the other poster, I take care of what I buy. So many of these devices are made in China and that's the problem! Bad computer boards exist in some of these devices. Do yourself a favor and get a Toshiba, anything but this one.

I purchased this from Target in Fall 2008 for a car trip to entertain our toddler. When we returned we packaged it back up in the box (it worked fine). Well, it is now July 2009, the car is all packed up for a long car drive, the 2-year old is strapped in her car seat, we start driving, plug in the dvd player, and.....nothing. Nothing we could do would get this player to play. We take excellent care of our things and this player was never dropped or spilled on or otherwise abused. It simply didn't work anymore, and this was only the second time we were trying to use it. What a WASTE of a hundred dollars. We had to stop on the road and buy another DVD player for another hundred dollars. BTW, Target doesn't even carry this or any other Memorex DVD player any more, probably because they had lots of returns and realized what poor quality they are. If I were you I would choose another brand of portable DVD player. Good luck!

I purchased this product for my daughter as a Christmas present. She played about 4 dvd's in unit. Unit crashed could not contact Memorex warranty service by phone even after two days. E-mail contact was a joke thier reply was make sure switch in proper position.

I bought this player after testing out several at stores & reading reviews. I was leaning towards a Sony but because the speakers didn't project very well, this is the player I settled on. I needed one that was nice and loud that I could use for presentations for my business that could be heard by all my clients, no matter how far down the table they were. It is! It has the loudest speaker capability of all the players I tried. I like the swivel screen, and the buttons are handy to use to pause, restart, etc. the dvd. I like the remote that comes with it as well - that works great. My only beef is the battery. It is the kind of battery that sticks out the back of the machine (you can see it a little in the picture) and it is a little heavy. I don't like the look of it when it's plugged into the unit - it is pretty bulky but it is what it is. I haven't played a lot of dvds in it yet, but I did try one "homemade" dvd and it worked fine - it played really, really well with no skipping or stopping. I'm anxious to see how long it will last but overall, I'm pretty happy with it!
