"Lasted over longer than most!" 2009-07-02
By Crystal M. Vaughn (TN)
My son played this almost every day in the car for 15 months before it started not to work so well. I have found that most portable DVD players hardly measure up to this. I love the menu button to skip to the credits that some portable DVD players don't have. I just my ordered my 2nd one after paying $99 for an RCA that only worked a month-thankfully I was able to return and use the $ to order another ILUV>

"Does not work with ipod classic 80gb" 2007-12-23
By laura
This is a decent product, but it DOES NOT WORK WITH IPOD CLASSIC 80gb. Product description says it works with 80gb ipod, but it only works with the older model. Buyer beware. As far as I can tell, there isn't a portable dvd player that does work with the ipod classic 80gb. 12/2007

"Nice, with a good price." 2009-07-01
By Steven T. Labarre Jr. (Jacksonville, Fl)
I bought this at walmart on a whim, so my 2 year old could be pacified on a road trip. The screen is nice, i dont have tinted windows in my car, and even in bright sunlight you could see the picture. Remote is nice and thin, and the audio is loud enough to hear over the road and car noise.

The back rest thing, is a little flimsy, but has stood up to numerous trips, so its not a problem.. comes with remote, rca adapter, ac adapter, and car charger.

I paid 110 for it about 6 months ago.. I went and sprung for a nice matching Phillips case as well. I am very happy with this purchase and would make it again if i had to.

 "waste of money" 2009-09-09
By Beverly Weston (russellville, Tennessee United States)
I bought these for my children to watch while traveling this summer. The third time we used them the #2 screen stopped working. I wish I had spent a little more money a got a better brand, this Coby product is a piece of junk.

"Great at first, but quickly broke down" 2009-08-21
By B. Holthuis (Gainesville, FL United States)

We were very happy at first with this dual-screen DVD player. But soon after we set off on our trip across the continent, the earphone jack on the player started messing up: sometimes we'd get sound out of only one ear, sometimes out of both, sometimes out of neither (and we tried a lot of different earphones in the jack - made no difference).

The kids learned to live with this problem by taking turns using the DVD player (so much for buying two screens).

But the player became useless on our way back across the states, when it stopped charging from our car's accessory power outlet (it wasn't the outlet's problem; our other gadgets worked fine with it).

We've now had the DVD player for three months and can no longer return it. It was a waste of $150. This was my first and absolute last experience with anything Coby.

DO NOT BUY THIS!

"Good product -Very pleased so far!" 2009-08-10
By M. Currier (Fort Bragg, NC)
The only complaint that I have so far is that the cases for the car do not allow children to change the movies easily. I got this for a cross-country trip with 4 kids (9, 7, 2 year-old twins) and just me. The older ones had a really hard time getting the player in and out of the case to change a movie. You have to disconnect all the cables, pull it out, re-insert it in the case and then plug cables back in. It is not so bad for 2 hour movies, but for a 30 minute Wiggles DVD, it is a pain. The quality is good and the cable are long enough to reach one screen in the back of the van with no problem. The picture quality is surprisingly good! It did come with every cable and accessory known to man. It's greatest feature is the HOLD switch on the side that freezes functions and doesn't allow little toes pushing the buttons to constantly stop the movie, or skip parts, etc. That saved me a lot of groaning from the older ones. I am pleased so far and hopefully we will get more use out of it!!

 "Inconvenient, quality lacking" 2009-08-06
By M. Wilson (Hampstead, NC)
One must take the entire slave unit out of the bag to change the movie. With previous players, I can reach back from the driver's seat and change movies with one hand. With this unit, I would need to stop the car and pull the unit off the seat to change the movie. Also, my unit did not work. Unimpressed and returned for refund. Would recommend spending ~$25 additional and buying the Phillips or another comparable model. I would not recommend this product.

 "BEWARE OF COBY!" 2009-08-05
By Shane A. Bennett (Lafayette, LA)
I do not normally have the time for writing reviews, however, this one I feel is VERY necessary.

My wife & I purchased this unit in May 2009 to take along on a vacation with our five children to Orlando, a 14 hour drive one way from our residence. We purchased it earlier on because we thought it was a good deal at the time, paid 149.95 with Amazon's free shipping. We were happy that it arrived quickly, although it was not taken out of its box and used until the last week of July 2009, when we were on our way out to Disneyworld. We plugged in our brand new dual unit into our 2009 Toyota Sienna car lighter with the car D/C adapter the unit came with, and to our surprise the TV came on momentarily and then went off. I realized the adapter blew a fuse (3amp) and decided to stop at an automart to purchase a package of 4 amp and 5 amp fuses. Neither of them worked. The unit continued to blow the fuse!!! MY CHILDREN AND I WERE VERY VERY UNHAPPY AT THIS POINT!!

When we returned home from our trip, I contacted Amazon about the problem, and they advised me that they have a 30 day return policy, which had expired, and that I would need to contact COBY, the manufacturer of this DEFECTIVE product, and provided me with their telephone number.

I contacted COBY, and a gentleman there advised me that the television had a short in it and it would need to be returned, AT MY EXPENSE, using a trackable shipping method, and to include a note as to what is wrong with the television, and get this, A MONEY ORDER FOR $18 for return processing!! I was dumbfounded! This company sells products they refuse to warranty 100%?? I decided to bring the unit in from the vehicle and plug it in to a wall outlet, which I should have done before my call to Coby in the first place. The TV worked fine. This morning I contacted COBY once again, and explained that the TV worked fine plugged into a wall outlet and fine off of a charged battery, but when plugged into the vehicle lighter, it continued to blow a fuse. The representative proceeded to tell me that I would have to return the car adapter with a note included explaining the problem and include a $6 RETURN PROCESSING FEE!! Now, I was floored! This unit THEY MANUFACTURED was only taken out of the box, plugged in and NEVER WORKED as it should since IT IS PORTABLE, less than 60 days old, and COBY'S policy is to demand more of your money for any replacement, repair or part!! I have NEVER in my life dealt with a company, especially in electronics, who provided such ridiculous customer service! They should have been willing to send a replacement of the adapter, with proof of purchase, under 90 days old, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, like the majority of REPUTABLE MANUFACTURERS DO! Never again will I buy a COBY product as long as I live! If you decide to, BEWARE! COBY does NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCTS THEY MANUFACTURE! You can contact them of this incident at (800)727-3592. I'll be heading to WalMart today to find a replacement for their lousy adapter. Good luck to you!
