I've had this about three weeks now. First of all the speakers are muffled and dull; I wanted this monitor to save desktop space, but ended up putting external speakers on the computer anyway. Second of all, it is ferociously bright. As a migraine sufferer, I am always looking to dial down the brightness on monitors. I can get into the menu for this (using the buttons along the bottom right) but cannot seem to access the "Brightness" setting, only the Sharpness setting. With my software I am able to control the brightness only a little before losing picture clarity. Even the monitor on my old Toshiba laptop had better increment/decrement settings for brightness! I have actually purchased a pair of cheapo sunglasses to wear while I work with this. I'm not happy with it at all, but it *is* functional, and it would be a pain to send back.
Note, neither the Asus website nor the manual tell me how to access that brightness setting. Do you know? Please post a comment on this review if you do! Thanks.

This monitor is amazing. I like to live large and this monitor suits my lifestyle choice. If you are a fan of multiple "subjects" I would heartily advocate this here monitor you are considering.

I bought two of these monitors for a video editing machine. One died yesterday, giving me only a gray flickering screen. I checked the monitor with HDMI cable and on two other computers. The problem is with the monitor. I have had them less than 5 months and one is dead. I see many other reviews that mention bad custopmer service from Asus, a cost to return it and incomplete or poorly vetted repairs when they were sent back to Asus. I haven't the time or money to waste sending one back to Asus. I wish Amazon had a concierge or extended warranty service. Amazon is easy to deal with, most of the companies whose products they carry are not any good at customer service. Spend your money on a Samsung or Dell monitor. I'll be buying new monitors at a store that handles the returns for me, should something go wrong.

I bought this monitor at the beginning of September '09 for $200 from tigerdirect. It is now Feb '10 and it's still working perfectly. the image quality is vibrant and dynamic and the speakers on it aren't half bad! sound is not great but probably the best built in speakers i've heard on any monitors from this size range. As a laptop monitor and for gaming with my ps3 it is definitely worth every cent. The buttons are a little awkward to push and do seem a little flimsy, but you really only need to push the power button and the input button for switching between devices. The other thing is that all of the inputs are in the back which can be a pain sometimes. I wish they had at least put the hdmi slot on the side and the headphone jack in the front for easier access. I would highly recommend this monitor.
