This is the cheapest and simplest computer I've ever bought - I have been using Macs for over two decades and have owned some expensive and sophisticated equipment over the years - but this little netbook is probably the one I have been more excited about than any of the others. It's light and compact and does everything I need of it when I'm on the move; internet access, email, skype and even word, for when I take any translating or editing to do out of the office. I am amused, though, by the fact that the @ key has been interchanged with the " key. It took a few minutes to work that one out.

I got this Netbook on Monday from Amazon and from the time I opened the box the poor thing has been in constant use.
I bought this to replace my extra heavy Laptop which i got fed-up of carrying around.
This Netbook is small, light and extremely portable.
I use it all day at school and the battery life is really good (way better than my laptop that gives me 15 minutes of battery power)
Its Wi-Fi connectivity is excellent.
The screen size is good and the keyboard is nice and sturdy.
Setup is a breeze even a kid can do it
It comes with crappy Windows 7 Starter but I upgraded it to Windows 7 Home Premium the same day i got it.
I have customized the setting to my taste and it works really good.
It is a great addition to your PC arsenal if you need something nice and portable.
I am loving my brand new asset, it is a depreciating asset but an asset nevertheless.
But I have only had it for four days, so lets see if this review stays positive ;-)

Remember, a netbook isn't a notebook or a PC. It is for basic work, not for high end gaming, or media work. With that said, this netbook is great. The keyboard is comfortable (I usually use an ergonomic keyboard, so that says a lot). The screen is easy to read and only a couple older software packages didn't fix on the screen when I was testing. The boot up with 1 Gig of memory is a bit slow, I thought that it was because it was a netbook. Not so, I upgraded to the max 2 Gig, and wow, bootups and aplication loads are very fast. Earlier I said it isn't for high media work, that is correct, but it did run Adobe Premier and Photoshop Elements with 1 Gig of memory, though very slow. I didn't try with the 2 Gig of memory.

Like all other reviews I read prior to the purchase, needed the 2 Gb RAM for it to be up to par with bigger laptops, also had to load VLC Media to watch movies. I loaded Office 2007 and a few more software packages and it has behaved well so far. Sometimes though when I turn it on for it takes a long time for it to react, other times it comes up in moments, do not know why it does this. Hopefully it will not turn out to be a bigger problem in the future,

I've owned the Asus for a about a month-and-a-half now, and have been very happy with it's performance and size. I did purchase a 2GB stick of RAM for it, which I would recommend, as well as a small carrying case to keep things neat. It has worked flawlessly to date. I remember reading someone's review indicating that it seemed to get overly warm with operation; I have not found that to be the case. Asus indicates the battery should run for 8.5 hours between charges, but I suspect under normal operation that might be a bit overly-optimistic. That being said, the battery does last quite a while before a re-charge is needed, and I like the fact that I can replace the battery myself if needed. It also runs very quietly and that's a plus. I'm running most of my desktop apps on this machine as well and have had no issues. I would highly recommend this netbook for consideration.
