I desperately needed a portable/external CD/DVD drive to install Windows on a separate partition of my MacBook AIR (no optical drive). I had absolutely no desire to deal with the nearest Apple Store, so I swung by a competitor and took a chance on this drive.
Fortunately, it was recognized by the AIR and Mac OS and I was able to successfully install Windows. Unfortunately, burning isn't supported under OS X.I knew that there was a chance that this drive wouldn't work at all on my Mac and the retail packaging explicitly states that it's only supported by Windows XP/VISTA & Ubuntu, so I'm not deducting any stars for that.
The only cons, aside from the lack of Mac burning support, were that the tray sometimes gets stuck on eject. For the price, it would have also been nice if they included a power supply instead of making us purchase it off of their website.
The drive served its purpose, though I'll still likely be purchasing the Apple external drive.
P.S. It plays DVDs just fine under OS X, if that was a concern of yours.

I ordered my I/O magic drive from Dell with my Mini, but as mentioned, it does not come with a power supply although it has an input for one. This was fine until I purchased a Western Digtital external drive from Amazon and tried to use them at the same time. I have a problem with the Mini powering both of them. I just wish I could find the supply here at Amazon instead of dealing with I/O magic. Overall I still give it a five.
